Old historic Mikkira Homestead

Mikkira is about 30km southwest of Port Lincoln on the Fishery Bay Road. Mikkira closes for the fire danger season at the owners discretion (guided tour group excepted). There are many Manna Gum trees that the koalas live in. The leaves on those interesting trees are the koala's favorite food. Visitors to Mikkira enjoy the space and tranquility of the natural bush environment. It is a great place for bird-watching, picnics, koala spotting and camping. In late winter (or around April for Parsons Band) there are tiny native orchids to find on the short walk to the giant yakkas. You can visit for the day or camp overnight in your caravan, motor-home or tent. There is no electricity or sullage, but there are flush toilets and a hot shower.

Permits to visit Mikkira are available in Port lincoln. Sorry pet animals, firearms and recreational motorbikes are not allowed on the property.
